![]() ![]() Just to single out the simple things before going into further details. Using the router works, but the router just died and I am back to a connection with just a DSL modem, so I need this to work and I am sure that this works for the thousands of other Sonicwall users out there. There are no newer versions of the firmware that I can find on. I believe it is related to the sonicwall itself, not the client setup (as using the router works perfectly at the sonicwall side). Increasing timeouts and retries in the Sonicwall VPN client settingsĪfter spending many hours trying to fix this, I have run out of things to try. Enabling fragmented packet handling and ignore the DF bit Changing the UDP timeout in advanced settings to be greater then 30 seconds Changing the MTU to a lower value based on using ping with -f -l options I have tried all the following after reading all the posts about Sonicwalls and other VPN issues: Internet connection has a static IP address assigned. Working router using 192.168.2.x private static address to talk to router (using WAN port of sonicwall). VPN client is setup to use DHCP for address 192.168.0.x address. This problem was occuring previously using a cable modem at the old location using DHCP to the modem (so It's not the ISP)Ĭonnection with problem: Switch -> Sonicwall Pro 1260- ppp0e->DSL Modem->InternetĬonnection without problem Switch->Sonicwall Pro 1260-> static internal ip->DSL Router-> Internet I thought the issue was with the cable ISP. If I put a router between the internet and the Sonicwall, with the WAN using a static IP address (192.168.2.10) then the VPN works flawlessly which I found out by accident from a move a few weeks ago. This happens when the Sonicwall is doing a PPPoE conneciton to the intenet over DSL. The log shows that the client disconnected It will reconnect fine, but will drop again. The drop happens pinging a machine on remote network, or doing a Remote Desktop connection or not doing anything in particular (i.e. The issue is that when a client running the Global VPN client is connecting the to Sonicwall, it will connect but will drop after anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. This issue did not happen with the old TZ170 which died and needed replacing. I have spent lots of time with Sonicwall support with no resolution other then them blaming the ISP. I am experiencing a problem with a Sonicwall Pro 1260 with the Enhanced operating system. ![]()
